Volunteer Job Description
Volunteers are a crucial mainstay of many Center for Safety & Change’s programs and services, and more than 100 contribute their time, talents, and energy to our organization each year. Trained volunteers answer our 24-hour Rape Crisis Hotline after business hours, help at the Emergency Residential Shelter, assist at the New City office and at satellite offices in Spring Valley, and Haverstraw and help with fundraising activities throughout the year. In any given year, volunteers contribute thousands of hours helping with office work, childcare, transportation, advocacy and outreach.
Center for Safety & Change’s Resource Council provides opportunities for former Center for Safety & Change clients (domestic violence and sexual assault survivors) to serve as volunteers and to advise the organization on programming, ethnic and cultural sensitivity, and other matters.
You will be contacted once your application has been reviewed. Please be sure to complete the section regarding your time availability. If your time is limited or your schedule varies, you may want to consider volunteering at Center for Safety & Change’s Tappan Zee Thrift Shop. Please let us know if you have any areas of expertise that you wish to share or if you are a service provider willing to donate your time, talent and services to clients. If you have any questions, please call Cindy McMurtrie at 845-634-3391.
If you are under 16 please see our Student Activists Ending Dating Abuse (S.A.E.D.A.) page on Facebook [link to SAEDA fb page].
