What We DoWhat We Do

DELTA Project

In August 2003, the New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NYSCADV), through a cooperative agreement with U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), selected Rockland County to be one of the counties in New York State to participate in the new Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancement Through Leadership and Alliances (DELTA) Project.

The DELTA Project is about social change through coordinated community response. DELTA supports the development and expansion of local coordinated community response, adding a prevention focus to the intervention work already being done. Preventing violence before it happens requires changing the environments and attitudes that support and tolerate gender inequities. Violent behavior, disrespect in relationships, and attitudes of unearned privilege are learned patterns that traditionally have passed from generation to generation.

Because Intimate Partner Violence is pervasive, DELTA approaches prevention on many levels. DELTA draws in people throughout the community so that its prevention work can respond to the cultural richness and diversity within Rockland County.

In New York State, DELTA Project includes: Center for Safety & Change FOR Safety & CHANGE (and The STOP F.E.A.R. Coalition) representing Rockland County; A New Hope Center, Inc., representing the Community Response Network and Tioga County; and Catholic Charities of Saratoga, Warren and Washington Counties, representing the Domestic Violence Community Coordination Council (DVCCC) and Warren and Washington Counties.
