Resource Council

Our Survivor Outreach Program Affects Change and Empowers Victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Human Trafficking and Other Crimes

The Resource Council is a group of abuse victims and survivors who are both activists and volunteers. They are motivated by the desire to help other victims and survivors cope with the trauma they have experienced and to improve the response of various legal and social service systems. Through advocacy efforts, Resource Council members raise awareness, embolden victims and give back to Center for Safety & Change and its clients.

Outreach and Advocacy Initiatives Include:

Educating local representatives by proposing new local, state and federal legislation and attending the annual Legislative Day of Action in Albany, NY

Raising public awareness of victimization and the services offered by Center for Safety & Change by speaking at various community events and staffing information tables at local malls, shopping centers and health fairs throughout Rockland County

Meeting informally to provide support to current clients of the Center

Participating in fundraising activities to benefit the Center and the victims and survivors it serves

“The final stage of healing is using what happened to you to help other people. This is healing in itself.” ~ Gloria Steinem
